| Sometimes, some things we take for granted (as in - DUH! everyone knows that, don't they? sort of stuff) are not well known by others. So why not share some facts in "Did you know" forms with everyone? Sharing is caring. So we all may learn new things everyday.
Here I go,
1- Did you know that heavy alcoholics have a lower maximum limit of how much tylenol they can intake before permanent liver damage?
2- Did you know that Clostridium difficile (a resistant bacteria that typically causes prolonged diarrhea) is more deadly (meaning causes more complications on the colon that are almost irriversible) in the States than in Canada?
3- Did you know that Grapefruit, eaten with salt, dims the bitter taste and brings out its fruity freshness taste?
4- Did you know that you should NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER (did I say never?) EVER, EVER take John's Wort aka Millepertuis (natural product that claims it is good against prostatic cancer or minor depression. Neither indication as been thoroughly studied) without doctor/pharmacist's suggestion? That thing is the strongest inducer (read as "factor that influences the function") for the enzymes (read as "proteins") in your liver and lungs. These enzymes are the ones that metabolize (read as "gets rid of naturally") xenobiotics (read as "toxins" or "drugs" or "medication" or "anything that you ingest that may affect how your body functions). If ever you take this thing, remember to mention it to your doctor/pharmacist.
haha Lots of "read as", because I don't want to sound like I speak martian.
So now its your turn. Share us some facts you knew, learned or just realized! it can be from school, it cam be from you, it can be something your grandma once told you - it can even be the color of your underwear today.... hmm or maybe not share on

| WOW  Clostridium difficile more deadly, what are we eating to get this. I'm scared.
Did you know, that Jimi Hendrix was not popular in the states, when he first appeared. Jimi went to England and was a hit, then when he came back to the states, everyone loved him. - FunkiVon wrote:

| Did you know that Clostridium difficile is more resistant and deadly in the States than in Canada because of the broad use of antibiotics (medication used for bacterial infections)? [if used too often or inadequately, you cultivate the "stronger" strains of bacteria - it's Darwin's natural selection]
Did you know that some guy in China took antibiotics everyday (apparently medication can be bought without perscription in some dark places over there) for no valid reason (he just thought it'd make him stronger), he finally got sick one day with an ULTRA resistant bacterial infection that could not be treated by any medication. The man died and became a legend for pharmaceutical students.
Did you know that I slept only for 6 hours?

| Did you know that... Dolphins usually take turns sleeping, in couples. One of the dolphins swim while another rests in the wake left by the other, thereby allowing them to move on the surface without making muscular effort. Small dolphins should be helped by their mothers during the first days. During this time the mother does not sleep, because otherwise the little dolphin could become exhausted and sink, dying from asphyxiation.
Dolphins are able to close a half of his brain, leaving the other half active, and do so alternately to one side and rest each part. For example, if they have the left hemisphere of the brain disconnected, the right eye can not see!

| Did you know that a lot of cancers and a lot of other illnesses could have been cured by now....but governments, instead of letting scientist work on solutions, they rather just tax pharmacies that sell you the same old medicines.
lol imo. | |

Did you know there's a fish that has a transparent head and it's eyeballs are INSIDE the head?!?! it's the coolest fishy ever.
Did you know octopus can learn by example? They also have a beak and can squeeze through any tube as long as the tube is no smaller than their beak.
Did you know jellyfish have no blood, brain or heart?
oh and not water related but disgustingly messedup and true: Flamingo milk is red..... yep not only does it have milk, it's red... cause it has blood in it eeewwwwwie

| Von your doing really good with your pharmacist studies, you really know a lot. You're making me so proud And wow, all these facts are amazing! The cockroach ones are freaky, yet so interesting And dolphins are just so... mean but smart D: I have one that is sort of like Shred's - do you know why the US (or the world in general, probably) hasn't converted fully to Eco-cars? Like, US Scientists have the technology AND ability to make eco-fuels (e.g. vegetable oil), and they even have them but the government does not let them publish it. Why? Because US government wants to be all greedy and become rich off of the oil industry. Until the very last drop of oil is used, then the US will switch to eco-fuels. It's so selfish though (IMHO) because instead of preventing further pollution, they just want to keep getting money. Bleh >_> | |

Bleh >_> This is wrong on soooooo many aspects XD veggie oil isn't eco-friendly for starters... and it wasn't about veggie oil, it was supposed to be about high starch veggies, but those also turned out to not be eco friendly. The US gov doesn't make that much on oil since they have to get most of it from foreign countries... they're actually more interested in all the @#$% of Natural gas we have. It's just been to hard to mine until they developed fracking... but now lots of people are pissed cause human error is causing serious problems with fracking... not to mention theres high risk of sinkholes. Did you know Hybrid car batteries cause more environmental damage than non hybrid cars altogether cause?

| I thought that TO MAKE veggie oil (extract it from the fields) used machinery that would create as much pollution as just using fuel instead and that was why we hadn't fully converted to be eco-friendly? maybe i was thinking that the government was too nice D:
Did you know that babies are capable of learning to speak and recognize simple sounds at 6 months? Teach your babies early!

| beto has a point. but the corn oil would not work 4ever because its not good to keep growing corn in the same spot. and if every one had a car like that we wouldnt have enough room to grow for that fuel..... and america does have oil we just want to be the last ones with it (greed )...
they are already making plans of drilling in alaska with same old equipment that screwed up our ocean....
did you know alligators can drop there heart beat to 1 or 2 beats a minute under water...they can be under water for up to 2 to 3 hours without getting more air...

| Haha, I didn't know what eco-fuel to use as an example so I picked a random one XD But true, it wouldn't really help. And as Shred said, that's what the US wants to do: buy all the oil from the whole world until they don't have any more, then once it's all gone, use the oil that is here and don't sell it to other countries. Yes, GREED. And the money basically comes back to the government with the people buying the oil, I think. But you have to admit, some countries are using this to their advantage. One of the best examples is Dubai, they know that eventually they'll run out of oil, so that's why they invest so much in all the buildings and attractions they do, so that once the oil runs out, tourism will take over. | |

| A roach will die in 3 days if you trap it in a jar. If you leave it there for 2 weeks it will shrink like a raisin and be very crispy. (I've done this ) | |
