On the 5th of April 2011, a 18 year old vietnamese girl went missing in Montreal (Technically, in Laval; but that's like distinguishing Singapore from Malaysia; minus the passport requirement). The police were notified and a search went on (did not find her).

The family and friends used Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr/Deviantart/etc to spread the word and posters of her photo with "Missing" sign. This news spread on the televesion news and on the radio.

This news "a fait furreur" (meaning caught on like fire = word spread quickly) in Quebec. I think just one of her facebook "search" event page got >20k attendees in less than 1 week.

Today (13th April), she was found.

Rumors have it that she may have been running away from medicine admission exams.
I don't believe in those rumors though. I'm glad she's safe home. How often does one go missing over 1 week and gets found and returned home safely? Not very often. I've read somewhere that past 48h first hours, the chances of survival are halved >_>
