| I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the Freshmen 15. Busy college life gets you to ordering out more than cooking at home, etc. Unfortunately, I have become a victim of the Freshmen 15x5. So, to get rid of this weight and to fit back in my old jeans while having time to deal with college, I've gone on the Ideal Protein Diet. Basically I'm only allowed certain foods for a time. Sadly my options arent much and I'm looking for ideas on how to cook them up and have a variety. ANY ideas are allowed. Here's a breakdown of my eating schedule where I need ideas. Lunch: 2 cups of veggies I get to choose from the following soups... -Tomato Basil -Leek -Cream of Mushroom -Cream of Chicken Dinner: 2 cups of Veggies 7oz of seafood (Crab or Shrimp) or 5 oz of Beef (Rump Steak, Roast, Sirloin, Round, Tenderloin) or Poultry (Skinless Chicken, Turkey, 2 Whole Eggs) Now I'm only allowed these Veggies: Asparagus, Broccoli, Bean Sprouts, Cabbage, Celery, Cucumbers, Dill Pickles, Green Onions, Green Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Onions (raw only), Hot Peppers, Radish, Rhubarb, Sauekraut, Spinach, Turnip, Zucchini These Veggies I'm only allowed once a week: Green Beans, Snow Peas, and Tomato I can add spices to my meals but they can only be a powder no salt. I can use sea salt but only 1/2 teaspoon per day. | |

| Lol, I bet you don't even need to lose weight. Those are some stricked rules. I myself wouldn't worry about all that just try to cut your fast food intake and I bet you will lose some weight. | |

| Hey whatever veggies you cook....just try sauteeing them with cooking spray and add some cumin powder and chili powder....add plenty and then add some water and its a little sauce. Same with your chicken...garlic powder and water or maybe cajub seasoned meat. | |

| I read somewhere that putting hot sauce in our cuisine will help lose weight because it will make your meals smaller. That only works if you don't like to eat spicy XD | |

| Miss Ann, 15X5 prob means you should lose some weight cause that is not really a healthy weight gain, but dieting is not the answer, believe me, there are some serious health risks involved with dieting, and when a person starts a diet they usually are forced to diet for life. This type of diet will also effect your mental capacity and could effect your grades.
I suggest this instead: -exercise if you can even if it's only once a week, try to fit in a workout. If it's not possible, do little things, like that the longer path to walk to class. Take the stairs instead of the elevator things like this.
-Measure snacks out before hand to help control your portions
-Drink a big 16oz glass of water before you start your meal. Thorougthly chew each bite before your swallow, to slow down how much you eat, and feel that you are full.
-Cut Soda/fruitjuice from your diet. Try to cut alcohol and coffee if you can. Caffeine may give you energy, but it causes you to turn sugar into fat or something weird that can make you gain weight
-Set realistic goals, your current diet does not sound realistic, which means you'll prob rebound afterward and gain it all back
-stop eating 5 hrs before bedtime
I can tell you more, but hoenstly exercise and some weight training is the best, the more muscle you have on your body the higher your metabolism and the more energy you have(need less caffeiene), even if you stop exercising it will take longer to gain back the fat if you have decent muscle on you.

| I will start looking through my recipes and see what I can find. Maybe it will encourage me to pursue a healthier diet as well. It's hard here at work, becuase they have so many meetings that they bring catering into that numerous times a week I "score" free bagels, muffins, donuts, fruit, cookies, brownies, sandwiches, soups. (Plus they supply us with ALL the free soft drinks, coffee, tea and hot cocoa you can guzzle!) Todays free score was a bagel with cream cheese, a chocolate muffin and a cup of granola. LOL. I could go back for more but now feel like a total Fat princess for admitting all the free stuff I eat all week. I agree with Nikki, sautee your veggies and add some Mrs. Dash! Yum! For just a better eating regimine remember this: Eat like a King in the morning, a prince at lunch and a pauper for dinner. -pam | |

| Shred- haha yeah, no fast food for me for a while.
Funki- No cheating for me. :p
Neo- lol No No. I didn't gain 75 lbs. I exaggerated a bit on that. I've gained 35 lbs. but I do feel like I've gained 75 lbs. I gradually gained this weight over a 3 year period. My friend (She went on this diet about 2 years ago and has kept it off) recommended a personal trainer to me so I will be working out but she also wants me to follow this diet for the time being. Also, for being unrealistic, I find it rather realistic because It's a very balanced diet. I didn't list my entire food schedule(Breakfast & Snacks) I only listed what I needed ideas on how to cook things up.

| can you eat cheese? There is this yummy asparagus thing I had the other day, they're quesadillas, but with asparagus and chevre(goat cheese) and cilantro.
Essentially you cut up asparagus into 1in peices, steam or saute or boil the asparagus to the level of crispness/softness you want, salt and pepper them.
Then you get a flour tortilla, in wide flat pan, sprinkle crumbs of the goat cheese(as much as you like), sprinkle on finely chopped fresh cilantro, and then put on a layer of the asparagus, and sprinkle alittle more cheese, lay on a 2nd tortilla, and flip till both sides are cooked.
They're really tasty. | |

They're really tasty. Yum! That sounds tasty!! I'm allowed to have cheese once in a while. About once every two weeks. I'm totally gonna try that. Also, so far I've lost 5 lbs. in two weeks. Not much but at a healthy pace (2.5 per week) 30 lbs. left to go! woo!

| yay congrats! Losing weight slowly is the best way btw not sure sure how much oil you can have... but sometimes when I have broccoli with lots of stems, I peel the tough part of the steams off and then slice them up into like 1/8in slices and just sprinkle some sesame oil and soy sauce and then toss the slices so that they all get coated alittle with the flavor. Makes an easy salad. | |
