| At 17 year old I made the biggest choice of my entire life go to college or go to the army....well for people that know me you know the choice i made but for peole that dont i decided to go be a soldier........i enlisted as an infantryman for the first tour of my enlistment......when i went to iraq my job was clean up for vehicles that had been hit by roadside bombs and had casualties happen inside the vehicle.....basically i had to use a hose to get my fellow soldiers remains out of a vehicle so it could be sent back to the states for analysis to figure out what we could do better to make the vehicle safer for future tours and future missions.....after i got back i tried out for special forces and made it in i went to afghanistan 3 times and iraq another time.............i lost alot of friends when i was over there....as of today over 5000 people that fight for this wonderful and beautiful country have given your lives for me and you...im crying right now because if the thought that some people out there have lost a brother or sister or father or cousin or whichever to this terrible war or terrorism......... I know alot of you out there really dont like our president or the one before him......but you have to remember Soldiers are doing a job and the president is just our boss we have to take orders and its not like we can just pass it on to the next Joe Blow that comes through the door..................I got seriously injured in Iraq.........I got hit by a roadside bomb and was critically injured........I am 25 and i have to walk with a cane for the rest of my life.....Am i mad about? Absolutely not, I knew what i was doing and i would do it again if i was given the chance............So for all you vets I Staff Sargeant Nichols Salute you.........and for the supporters and the families of the fallen i do the same.....please dont let this post be looked out and shrugged out like alot of posts that gone on about this forum...........Im a recovering addict so i need to make this request........when your having fun Today celebrating Memorial day......before you take a shot or toast your beer remember to do it for your troups because we fight for you every single day we put on that uniform and pick up that weapon............Thank you for listening and God Bless America | |

| The men and women who do enter into the armed forces are extraordinary people who are willing to risk everything for the benefit of, well, every American. The soldiers that are there are protecting us and making a safer place for us. The crazy part? They don’t even know us…but are still hopeful that their part will help to change our society. Memorial day began in 1868 when members of the Grand Army of the Republic requested to decorate the graves of their friend. Since than, Memorial Day has become a time when the US honors the fallen heroes of all of its wars. While celebrating Memorial Day today, stop to remember these people. The people who were brave enough to fight for America, who risked everything. This past year the total count of troop causality reached 4,452 with 32,074 wounded, and 20% who now suffer from serious brain or spinal injuries. These men and women, not furniture sales or family BBQs, are the reason Memorial Day was created. Remember that and remember them. Yes, spend Memorial Day with your family. Yes, be thankful for every moment you have with them. But for one moment, some time today, take a second and remember all of the people who are missing a part of their families today, and what those people have sacrificed for the United States of America. | |

| Seriously the USA should try another strategy. If you are such a rich country you should try spending more time on that or really put your heart into it. Still, my condolences... (if that's how you say it) | |

| @Deo, I do not understand where you were going with that post. another strategy to honoring our fallen or what?
@Touchies, well even though we don't see it in our pockets, we are one of the richest, but damn you are right about how much debt we got. I wasn't very happy when I first heard that statement.
But all in all, I an honored to have a man of the military here. My family wouldn't let me join, I still could have cause it was my choice. But my mom said I was her only child, and that was enough guilt for me. HAHA, but I support our troops, they are the reason why we are able to celebrate at all.

| LOl, usa still prints money every day they shouldnt...we are in debt because of are federal government and banks, and billions of dollars wasted on wars.....one of my conspiracies is that or government wants are economy to totally fall apart... I do tip my hat to any1 overseas thow. It takes a lot of courage to be in the military...The military is great for some ppl that make it out alive. I have plenty of friends who have totally turned there lives around after serving for years. But i also had couple who didnt come back the same... Do I think military is good of course i do....But that doesnt mean I agree with all the battles and wars going on lately....Most of are enemies were created by us. America is not always the hero...Dont know if u guys no the term but there has been a lot of false flag crap going around lately...thats when one country/government makes a threat or attack look like it came from an other... It used to be the war on drugs. But now its the war on terror....as long as we fall for the BS it will always be a war on something... I guess the point im trying to make is that the human race should be way past this by now. We should know that war doesnt usually solve problems over night. We should be able to come to agreements without violence....History just keeps repeating itself and we dont learn a damn thing from it!
touchies i give u props for being there, Some1 has to do the dirty work
I give memorial for all that lost there lives to save ours... Rip war vets

Still, my condolences... (if that's how you say it) Ah, most countries in the world have financial issues, let us not forget the bailout packages given out to Greece and Portugal, to name two. England is also pretty screwed for debt. I wonder who we're all in debt to, and is there 1 country with LOADS of money, or are we all in debt to each other? Back to the topic... I'd like to add some thoughts for the British soldiers as well. My dad is a member of the Grenadier Guards, in Norfolk (albeit he's retired, and was only in the Army for 5 years when he was 18...), but we hear all sorts of terrible stories coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm glad there are people out there who can do these things, defending 'The Free World' from oppressive regimes and dictatorial governments. I hope these conflicts will resolve themselves soon, but the chances are, there's always another despot leader who needs taking care of (watch out Kim Jong Il, we know where you live...)
